Health and Wellness Services
The strategic objectives of the Directorate in view of the its’ main function of providing medical care and health interventions to the TUK community include:
- Expand University Health and Wellness infrastructure
- Diversify clinical and general health services
- Review medical scheme services for staff and students
To realise these objectives the Directorate runs in and outpatient services as well as specialized Clinics for:
- Comprehensive Care Clinic for those living with HIV/AIDS
- Chronic disease clinic handling non-communicable diseases including hypertension and diabetes.
- Tuberculosis clinic
- Family planning clinic
Public health services are carried out through:
- Health talks
- HIV/AIDS programmes
- Sensitization on the impact and mitigation of HIV/AIDs and Alcohol and Drug Abuse
- Tuberculosis screening camps
- Hepatitis B vaccination for health sciences students
- Cancer screening for staff and students targeting cervical, breast and prostate cancers.
- Training of students and staff on medical emergency rescue services and first Aid
